Research Interests:
Dr. Fishman Ph.D., 1985, Princeton University, was a faculty member at North Dakota State University before arriving as a staff member of the former Condensed Matter Sciences Division in the summer of 1995. His research interests are primarily in the theory of magnetism of transition metals, including the behavior of spin-density waves in Cr and gamma-Mn, alloys and the properties of strongly correlated systems such as the manganites. Much of his work has focused on the behavior of systems with non-colinear spins such as in canted antiferromagnets. In recent work with Mark Jarrell of the University of Cincinnati, he has applied dynamical mean-field theory to the study of double-exchange systems.
